I moved to a big city some years ago and it's been great, but I've struggled with finding like-minded people locally. As a result, I ended up quitting my job and spent the past year creating a tool to hopefully solve this.
I did try meetup.com, but very few of the groups really resonated with me as many of my interests are either niche or online. I'm also kind of shy and would rather chat for a bit before meeting up with a new group of people.
You first swipe on cards to show how you feel about polarizing topics like Hunting, Polyamory, Podcasts, Anime, Parties, etc. You swipe to the right if you support it, to the left otherwise. You can also list your interests and then filter posts and users by criteria like distance, similarity, activity, interests, age, etc. Then you can message others or chat in real time in public posts.
I've only posted it on Hacker News and a couple subreddits so far, but the reception has been great and they recommended I keep going and submit to sites like yours.
You can use most of it without logging in, so no pressure at all to create an account. I hope you like it and would love to hear any feedback that you have so I could make it even more useful for you.
